No. 4 of the Dumpy books for Children. Original pale green cloth lettered and stamped in dark green with ruled borders and vertical stripes. Some minor rubbing to cloth and some very light internal spotting. A very small (approx 2mm) marginal chip to page 11, not affecting text. Still, one of the nicest copies you will find of this very scarce item, usually found in much worse condition. Housed in a green full morocco clamshell case with gilt lettering on spine. |

Volume 1 - 582pp + index (12 plates, 2 folding); Volume 2 - 392pp + index (13 plates, 3 folding); Volume 3 - 398pp + 28pp + index (13 plates) and Volume 4 - 362pp + index, includes general index for all four volumes (11 plates, 1 folding). 8vo in size (140mm x 210mm) Uniformly bound in full contemporary tree-calf, double contrasting title/volume leather labels, elaborate gilt to spines, gilt borders to covers, with gilt to edges and inner edges, marbled endpapers. Slightly chipped to head of spines, with small amount of loss, especially to volume 1. Small round volume label missing from volume 1. Internally some light browning, usually to plates with some offsetting, but generally fairly clean and bright. Each issue has a separate title page.
